WayTold is made by Forged, a small independent studio. This page covers the WayTold iPhone app and this website. The short version: we keep what we need to run your trips, we never store your location, and we do not sell anything or show ads.

Your location

WayTold uses your location on your phone to show where you are on the map. It is not stored, not sent to our servers, and never shared with an AI you connect.

Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. We keep the account identifier and email address they give us, so your trips can follow you between devices.

Your trips

The trips, places, days, plan marks and notes you create are stored on our server so they sync to your devices and to anyone you share a trip with.

A connected AI

Only if you choose to connect one. With your approval, it can read and change your trips through WayTold. It cannot see your location. What your AI provider does with your conversations is covered by their own privacy policy. You can disconnect it at any time in the app.

Downloads

Towns you download, with their maps, stories, photos and narration, are saved on your phone and stay there until you remove them.

The website and waitlist

If you join the waitlist we keep your email address, your note, the time and your country, and use them only to write to you about WayTold. This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics.

Who else is involved

• Apple or Google, when you sign in with them.
• Cloudflare, which carries traffic to this website and to our server.

We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account in the app, which deletes your trips and notes with it. Or email hello@waytold.app and we will do it for you. To leave the waitlist, reply to any email from us.
